By request, I have painted this for my good friend who, last year, spent a semester at Oxford.  During her time in England she was able to take some very picturesque photos.  This is painted from one such photo.  I hope you enjoy it.  Contact me if you have any requests of your own.

Special

Often we use the word special to describe someone as needing extra help because they're not smart or something like that.  We consider it an insult if someone calls us special.  But maybe that definition of special just means you have an ability that most people have not got?

Today I discovered an artist who paints gorgeous scenes using nothing but a typewriter.  I have also long admired the work of a man who has the ability to paint an entire city from memory.  Both have what would typically be thought of as serious setbacks as they are not like people who our society normally considers skilled, smart, or able to accomplish much in life.  The great thing that sets these two apart is the special ability God gave them.  He made them excellent in their ability to visually communicate the beauty they see.

Life in the Mundane Series

Today is just a simple issue with pictures from my phone from what is in general a long period of eventless life. Please enjoy these snapshots of the sky, most of them involving a sunset. Hopefully one day you will be seeing some of these same photos in DrawnOut form, but for now this will have to do.

Looking through the rear window in the car on the way to church

The sky looked amazing, so I went to the top of a hill near my house and got some shots.

Commutes are boring, but not with a gorgeous sky like this. I like how the red lights act to accent the other colors.

The moon looked larger in real life.

The day my sister and I had nothing to do so we drove to a cute little town
and went walking. Turned the camera upside down for this reflection.

This was the day my brother and I got soaked during a sudden cloud burst trying to pump air into the tire of one of our family's cars.

If it were not for the parking lot, this might render a more
romantic scene.

Modes of Transportation: New and Old

Today I have two drawings for you. A pencil drawing of a gypsy horse from a photo I took in the village of Roseti in Romania; and a marker drawing of an old car from a photo I found off the internet.

I like the pencil drawing for all the textures I had to represent. It was a fun challenge.

I'm not very accustomed to using marker, so this is my attempt at that. I did some touch-ups with pencil, paint and even some oil pastels. My inspiration came from walking around an old car show the other day.

Hopefully this isn't the last old car I draw. They make a great subject.
